My new IKEA island. I can now interact with Ellyn as she eats her breakfast and I make lunches every morning. I can be with everybody preparing dinner, the girls can help more easily when we bake cookies. Luckily this house just screams IKEA vs. Pottery Barn. I have resigned myself to living an IKEA life vs. the other. Luckily I love it, because my family is crazy hard on stuff. Dad, dogs, Ellyn, Sadie, and Sawyer. Jane and I could live in the Pottery Barn house. Except I'm clumsy. That's no good. I caught an old piece of toast on fire this week. Flames were pouring out of my toaster oven. My stupid fire alarm didn't even go off and we even tested to make sure our batteries were working. That makes me feel safe. So... no Pottery Barn. I can walk by the windows and admire from afar.
Our new comfy, reclining, corduroy, chair thing. We love it. Yes, that's a can of Crisco. In our kitchen there is always some can of food that Sawyer has transported out of the pantry rolling around on the floor.
Sadie's hair is FINALLY looking "STYLISH" again. Thanks to the CHE that Barb gave Jane and me for our birthdays. We just straighten and bend it every morning. The back looks very cool by the way. Kind of like mine... except shorter.
This is the haircut that my sister Ellynn gave me. I love it. I also CHE, but it only takes me a few minutes. Perfect. Oh, that thing next to me is the cutest boy ever. Last but not least, I recovered my chairs this fall with cute fabric and a nice thick layer of plastic. This dining room set must last us through the destructive children era. With Ellyn that could be a good long while. It's okay, because now I love my chairs again (they were so nasty without the plastic). Why I didn't do this sooner? I don't know. I was intimidated, I thought the plastic would be really expensive. The whole project cost me less than $20.00 using cool east asian remnant fabric (you like that phrase don't you) and $1.99 a yard plastic. So happy I did it. I've been meaning to blog about my lovely chairs for months now. Okay, that's a wrap.
