BREEZY FIELDS

Jane's play ran for three nights. We only went to two. The last night was the ward talent show. At first they didn't have enough acts. Mike volunteered to do a magic show (it is hysterical, handed down to him by his father), I was asked to sing in a trio, and Sadie read a poem she wrote. A busy Saturday night. Wait, yes, Wednesday night she will be honored for earning her Young Womanhood Recognition. If I hadn't actually been there when she was delivered I would seriously wonder if she were mine. So I wrote a really long blog and it would not publish. I was ever so frustrated. So here are highlights. Isaac and Mike at the Coheed and Cambria concert. Dave met us there, Isaac crowd surfed, I waited for the girl in front of us to pop right out of her shirt. Isaac got to come spend the weekend with us. Sawyer adores him. We met D-n-A and kids for dinner. Can't wait to be closer. Sadie especially spoiled me this Mother's Day. She was so sweet and thoughtful. Jane was one of five singing narrators in her school's production of Aladdin Jr. She did such a great job, all of the kids did. It really was very clever, well choreographed, well acted, and the singing was excellent. Saturday morning was Mormon Helping Hands. Mike was in charge of the project for the two Monterey Wards. Jane had a major play rehearsal, Sawyer and Ellie had a babysitter since Mike and I were going to be busy coordinating everyone, that left Sadie on her own helping with her two well gloved hands. Yes, she was adorable and actually worked very hard. I can't quite hide my astonishment. The project went really well. We had beautiful weather and Mike had everything very well organized. I came home and went to a baby shower with all of my favorite people, ate delicious food, relaxed, and then came home so that we could go pick up Mike's bib number for the Big Sur Marathon. Mike, Sawyer, Sadie, Ellyn and I walked a few blocks through downtown Monterey and visited the fitness expo, collected Mike's stuff, and then we made a little trip to Trader Joe's so Mike could pick out what he wanted to eat after his marathon. Yesterday Ellyn participated in her first ever Special Olympics. She was awesome. She didn't love the jumping so much but she couldn't get enough of the ball throwing. We had to find an empty station and throw some more. My girl rocked it on the 50 yard dash, she was amazing. She ran with Veronica and came in second. She was a speedy little Chiquita and loved the cheering at the end. Such a cool event for so many great children. I can't wait for many more years of participation! Ellyn and Veronica- just after Ellie threw her tennis ball. I could never get a shot with the ball in the picture. Ellyn does a little warm up lap, mentally preparing for her big run. High fives all around for our champion. Ellyn basks in the glory of her medals. Either that or she's tired and the sun feels really good!
