I Hate to Say It....

but I will not be blogging for a whole week. I will be living the good life on a houseboat up at Lake Shasta with Mike's entire family. Okay, I will also be paranoid that Ellyn or Sawyer will take off into the water anytime they dang well please so everything is not going to be totally perfect. Just pretty close. Off to finish packing. Yeah!

Is It Dumb?

Is it dumb that when Mike told me that Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson had both died today I got a little teary? Well I did. I feel like part of my childhood is gone. I can't tell you how many days, hours, weeks, years, I spent playing "Charlie's Angels." First, with my best friend Jenny Roberts and her sister, Stephanie. We were seven and younger, and still later when I was in fourth grade with my neighbor, Amy. Jen and Steph and I would always argue over which Angel we got to be. Jenny always got to be Jill (Farrah) because she had blond hair, Steph would get to be Kelly (Jaclyn Smith), if she was playing with us, because she was older than me and could be the boss. I would get stuck being Sabrina, because that is how my hair was cut at the time AND I was tall and very skinny. In fourth grade my dad gave me a suede billfold type notebook with a magnetic clasp and I carried our cases in it as I hid behind rocks and dashed around our Ford LTD. It was prett...

Break In

We had to break into our own house this morning. Not used to doors that stay locked when you open them. Luckily I hadn't put the child safety locks on the windows in the dining room yet and after a series of me on Mike's back, Mike on my back (that window was hard to slide open), me back on Mike's back, and a scramble by Sadie up and out of dad's outstretched hands and over the window ledge we were back in. I thought my run was a work out. We are almost completely done with the other house. I just have to go up in about 10 minutes and clean it and pack up one more kitchen box and one more living room box. I am so ready to be done. Then back here to try to get ready for our trip on Saturday and get Sadie registered for her new school and such. Oh, I do have to be back at the house tomorrow for the window cleaners and the carpet cleaners. I'll probably break up the cleaning a bit. Truth be told, I am really exhausted. My body is worn out!

Clear morning

It is hard to capture how incredible the view is from the new house. The iPhone camera is pretty weak and lately there have been a lot of clouds. Can you tell we are trying to get you to come visit? -- Post From My iPhone

A Little Something I've Discovered

I do not need to buy bread crumbs for approx. 4 years. Evidently I don't make things with bread crumbs very often and when I do I assume I don't have any and pick up a new can. Then... I open it and use about half and then put it in a cupboard where I find three other half used cans of bread crumbs. Moving is very revealing. I'm so tired right now I could die. It's 10 and we started at 6:15 and I still need to go in and start the dishwasher! Wah, I know. But tomorrow night we will be sleeping in our new house! I love it, it feels too good to be true. It's so perfect for what we need right now. What a blessing. I have to go shower, I think I am going to need assistance. The thought of standing is more than I can handle right now. Mike has worked his hiney off and Jane and Sadie were awesome helpers. Okay, I'm going to go climb Mt. Everest, aka shower.

A Little Pause

We are moving this weekend. We have found an amazing house with beautiful ocean views (from a distance, but still...) We will be 5-10 minutes from everything that we have been 35-40 minutes away from. We are very excited, but I'm going to be slaving away for the next several days, soo0.... probably no blog for a bit.

A New Family Picture that does not involve unshowered bodies or matching clothing

D-Day, 65 Years Ago Today

I am in awe of all of the brave men that fought on the beaches that day. Their courage is something I cannot even comprehend. I feel very privileged that our family was able to visit the beaches of Normandy and get just the tiniest glimpse of the sacrifice made by so many. I am so proud of our American soldiers, time and again they step up to the plate and do what is asked of them. Thank you.

Pics From Memorial Day Weekend

This is about as close as Sadie ever got to us the whole weekend. That is, unless smores were involved. Ellyn loved playing beside the river, and on the warm days, in the river. Our Jane, looking very thoughtful beside the cool, flowing waters. Sawyer and daddy playing beside a gigantic tree trunk. We have two family pics now. One of us in all of our matching Disney fleeces (and if you knew how much I hated being matchy matchy you would marvel that it ever took place- but... I'm a sucker for my girls... and boy actually and the girls wanted to match) and now our second family picture. Nothing like a picture on your fourth day of camping. I did shower by the way- once.
