I need to write more often or there is way too much to catch up on. For one, I can't remember what I've written and what I haven't. So I might be like some little old granny repeating her stories over and over. Last week was the last week of school. We, here at our house, felt like it should have been done the week before. I swear I could not get the kids to bed or up in the morning with any kind of regularity at all. It was crazy. Saturday we had two BBQs at the same time, one for Sadie's soccer team and one for H Co. That was fun but busy. Sunday we took the train into Furth(near Nurnburg) with two other families from our ward for stake conference. It was really fun to travel on the trains and since Brother Edwards knew exactly where to go I didn't have to worry at all. Stake conference was an experience. We had a German lady sitting in front of us that kept turning around and glaring at me and then covering her ear with her hand very dramatically any time Ellyn let out a peep. Ellyn makes some happy noises during church but they are irregular and not enough to take her out most of the time. She was actually being very, very good but this woman would not stop. We even had a stare down (which I won) and each of us gestured at one point for the other to move. I nicely waved to empty seats several rows away and a few minutes later she pointed angrily to the door and was saying who knows what. After that the grown daughter of one of the couples in our ward came down and whispered something in German to the woman. She stopped and through the missionaries she apologized after the meeting, saying she didn't realize my daughter was handicapped (the missionary was stuttering over that one, I could tell he was really unsure:). It was just too bad because instead of enjoying 3/4 of the meeting this woman had me to the point of tears but at the same time I was not going to go out and leave the rest of my kids- and like I said Ellyn was being good. So that was that. We had the couple missionaries, the Abersolds, over for his Father's Day dinner. We grilled some steaks and had a really nice evening. My kids adore them and they claim to love us as well. They were so homesick for their grandkids. We will probably miss them more than just about anybody here.
Many of our friends have left for the entire summer and several more are leaving next week. We are feeling like we are living in a ghost town. My girls are very ready to move, anxious to see where we are going to live. Tomorrow our faithful Honda Pilot will be sold. It makes me really, really sad. We will be getting an Odyssey when we get back to the states. I love the Sky Captain, so many trips, so many memories, 80,000 miles since the spring of 2004. I'm excited to get the minivan-choke- we need it. So the last two days have been spent running errands, laundry, researching things for our move, sorting through paperwork, etc... Nothing too exciting. We are anxious to get everything finalized. It looks like some of our paperwork has stalled once it made it here. I am going to try to get it moving tomorrow, find out where it is exactly. Hopefully we will make some headway. Mike did a great job of getting it taken care of down range.
Well I am off to bed. Oh, Sawyer stood without holding on to anything three times yesterday and climbed two stairs today. The kid is amazing. Also, we finally took Ellyn off of her diet. We had seen absolutely no change and didn't foresee another month making a difference. We celebrated by going out for pizza last night. Ellyn was so happy, we were too. We have been starting to watch Signing Times videos and signing to her and she is already signing "eat" for us and moving her hands purposefully at other times. I think she will catch on. It's pretty exciting. Okay, now I am really going to bed.
