BREEZY FIELDS

I have spent quite a bit of the summer contemplating how I was going to make this school year better. By better I mean- less chaotic, a house that was clean more often than it was messy, less feeling like I'm running a marathon every single day, children that are more independent and more responsible, free time spent more wisely. It is a big goal. It is one that we are accomplishing and I'm pretty excited about it. ONLY for my own records and not to brag, because I am sure plenty of other families have figured this out many moons ago (I am not, by nature, a very organized individual) I am laying out what we are doing. 1. I gave a special family home evening introducing our family theme for this year- If there is a job worth doing it is worth doing well . Start the job - don't put it off Finish the job - see it through to the end (lid back on the toothpaste, pencil sharpener and shavings thrown away, etc...). 2. On days I am not running early I am waking up at 6 instead...

This is the first chance that I have had to get on here in the past few days, so I know this is late! Sorry, Mama! I love you so much! I am so happy that my mom was born . What a lucky girl, I am to have her!! She does so much work and shows so much love for everyone. She has made me the person that I am! I love her to peices!! Happy Belated Birthday!!

I'm not ready for summer to be over, in Carmel it was never really here. I'm not ready for the rush to begin again. I'm not ready for my little babes to be away from me all day long. I miss them already. But... First day of school outfits are picked out, lunch boxes are found, school supplies are purchased, Father's blessings have been given. We are as ready as we need to be. The house is still, so still that I can hear each of my four children breathing the deep, heavy breaths of slumber. Just a few nights ago lights would still be on, treats would still be an upcoming event, my two children whose names begin with the letter "S" would still be wildly racing around the house, Super Hero personnas flicking from one to the next within minutes. For two weeks I have wanted to jab myself in the eyes with a fork. My eyes have itched so badly. This happened a few months ago but within a few days it went away. This time it did not and I finally called my doctor (I avoid this like the plague, especially without Jane here to babysit). Thankfully, my appointment was yesterday, the absolute worst day of itching. Just ask my kids how ornery I was on the way to the pharmacy. An hour later I had my precious anti-allergy eye drops. My eyes did not feel 100% better right away, but there was some immediate relief. This morning I got to use the drops again and this afternoon I was finally able to apply mascara for the first time in weeks. I know my husband is grateful. Sometimes I just have to take a moment to think about what we would be dealing with as a family if we didn't have the advances in medicine and surgery etc... that we do and I say a little prayer in a feeble attempt to acknowledge that blessing.
