Double Trouble- Copied from Darla's Blog

June and cousin Sawyer take it upon themselves to get their teeth clean. I guess we were too busy to even remember. (; Posted by Darla

HEAT, puke, and no sleep

A long, long, long, time ago we used to live in places that got hot. We discovered that Ellyn didn't do well with sleep (does she ever?) and heat. This week we had a bit of a heat wave. It even reached the low 90's. What we discovered long ago still holds true. Ellyn and heat don't mix (by the by heat and Mike don't mix either). We had several nights in a row of tantrums at midnight, cool baths at one, a van ride down to the beach in air conditioning at eleven thirty, Disney movies from 2-3, that sort of thing. But... I bought fans, the heat abated and rest was due to come to our house last night. That was before my friend ran over a screw on our way to book club and we came out to a flat tire and didn't get home until 1 am (we couldn't get the spare out from under the car, neither could my friend's husband). Then, Mike sleepily informed me that Sawyer had a fever and I should bring him into my bed (Mike was sleeping on the couch with Ellyn on the f...

Catch Up- How cute was my girl for her first stake dance?

Jane and Xochitl, love those smiles! Jane didn't want me to take this picture without her make-up. Danna Eady and her friend, Julie, took the girls to the dance and did "smokey eyes" and treated the girls to dinner before the dance. What a great YW we have! It just doesn't seem that long ago....

Our pool and Condo- for some reason these didn't transfer from my phone

Could you have a more beautiful view? A little bit of Paradise. Jane models our beauteous locale. Sawyer stepped off a step and over his head and then walked down the little gradual grade to over his head all in one day (a vigilant mommy rescued him both times) and it made him very leery the rest of the trip. Our little Ellyn was swimming (yes, really swimming with occasional help from the bottom of the pool) all over the place. We had to be sure we were completely ready to leave for the pool before we put on Ellie's swimsuit because once we did it was "Go" time. I mean it, "Go, go, go, go," repeated over and over with growing frustration. Our girl was so awesome on this trip. Our little Sadie mermaid. The girl was made for water. Vacation, San Diego 2010

Last December Kenn offered to let us use their time share this year for Mike's fall break. All those months ago it seemed a long way off. Suddenly it is here and gone. But...we had a wonderful time in beautiful San Diego. Our week of Heaven. The entire purpose of this vacation was to have A VACATION. While we love going to Washington for every single break we get we come home exhausted. Trying to fit fun activities in with both of our families leaves us running a million miles an hour. Also, our kids are off with their cousins and we don't get that quality time with them that we crave. This trip was perfect. We stayed at the Lawrence Welk Resort (I felt that maybe we should have been at least 50 before arrival but it all worked out). We spent our days alternating between activities in San Diego and just lounging around our condo and the pool. We ate sooo much; yummy treats, awesome Mexican food, sugar cereal (you know how I feel about sugar cereal). We packed lunches for our da...

I'll have what she's having

Ellyn woke up at 1:00am last night. Mike and I had just gone to bed. The girl and her parents stayed up ALL night. She fell asleep at 5:30 and woke up on her own at 6:30. I sent her to school with the warning to her aide that she might fall asleep, but then again, maybe not. We've done this before. She never slept the whole day and was full of energy on our walk this afternoon (Mike, Sawyer, and I took a nice long after lunch nap. Mike's not as long, he had class). Ellyn was loud and happy enough to wake the entire family at one point or another during the night so we all walked around like zombies today. Not our Ellie Boo, she was as happy as a sweet little cutie in braids could be. Some day mysteries will be revealed. I can't wait until I understand the puzzle that is our Ellyn.
