A long, long, long, time ago we used to live in places that got hot. We discovered that Ellyn didn't do well with sleep (does she ever?) and heat. This week we had a bit of a heat wave. It even reached the low 90's. What we discovered long ago still holds true. Ellyn and heat don't mix (by the by heat and Mike don't mix either). We had several nights in a row of tantrums at midnight, cool baths at one, a van ride down to the beach in air conditioning at eleven thirty, Disney movies from 2-3, that sort of thing. But... I bought fans, the heat abated and rest was due to come to our house last night. That was before my friend ran over a screw on our way to book club and we came out to a flat tire and didn't get home until 1 am (we couldn't get the spare out from under the car, neither could my friend's husband). Then, Mike sleepily informed me that Sawyer had a fever and I should bring him into my bed (Mike was sleeping on the couch with Ellyn on the floor, the coolest place for her we found). At 1:15 I brought Soy in and less than an hour later we started a vomit fest. Sawyer threw up at least six times last night and spent the moments in between in an uneasy sleep. Poor baby. Mike would wake up to rinse out the bowl and make sure we were settled (what is it with Puke and our family this past year?) Sawyer is still sick but feels better with Motrin. We had a nice visit with the Dr. to rule out serious infections, he was in a great deal of pain.
Okay- this was an unfinished blog from last week. I'm publishing it as is. Sawyer is feeling much better, still complaining a bit about his stomach. The heat is long gone. Last night felt positively "Fall-ish." This place and its weather is so bizarre.
Time to clean up lunch and watch afternoon conference! Love General Conference Weekend!
